We all have been told to drink lots of water. Do you drink enough per day? Why is it so important, and what are the benefits?

Because our body is made up of 60% water, it’s extremely important to consume plenty of water throughout the day. It helps cleanse out the toxins in your body, and keeps your heart, skin and muscles healthy. Therefore, you should start your morning with a tall glass of water.

Adding water to the start of your day will hydrate your body after 6-8 hours of sleep. It will help you focus and get you energized. Plus, you’ll be fuller and won’t want to snack as much. If you’re forgetful and need constant reminders, then there are apps for that.

If you’d rather grab a lemonade or soda, then maybe add some lemon or lime juice to your water. You can also infuse your water with fruits, and change it up every day for variety.

Keep a water bottle with you at all times. Get a reusable bottle and keep it filled. I personally love the stainless steel canteens and tumblers so that my water is always cold. You are more likely to consume more water if you always have it accessible and in plain sight.

Check your urine color to see if you’re staying hydrated. You definitely want it to be clear. If it’s more yellow, then you’re dehydrated and you need to increase your intake.

Water is also great for headaches, hangovers, and to aid in weight loss. It won’t make you lose weight, but if you take it rather than a sugary drink or snack, then you’re replacing those extra calories. And, you will definitely want some before, during and after your workouts.
